DRIVER CPC

Driver CPC is a Certificate in Professional Competence for professional HGV & Bus Drivers. It is implemented in Ireland as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59/EC, which is designed to set and maintain high standards of safety and driving.

Driver CPC applies to all holders of C1, EC1, C and EC vehicles (trucks) and D1, ED1, D and ED vehicles (buses)

Driver CPC for Bus and Coaches was introduced in Ireland on the 10th September 2008 and for truck drivers on the 10th September 2009.

The training must be completed in blocks of seven hours (i.e. one day). It covers areas such as road safety, environmental driving, and issues involving the health and well-being of professional drivers. Training does not involve a driving test or assessment.

The table below outlines the 5 x 7 hour training blocks or modules.
